An Italian Walnut 16th Century Mannerist style walnut and parcel gilt frame now as a mirror, mid 19th century. Circa 1850.
The exceptional quality and scale of this mirror indicates a possible northern Italian origin. Models for frames in the Mannerist style may be seen in Sabatelli, F., La cornice italiana Dal Rinascimento al Neoclassico, Electa, 2004.

Italian 18th Century Baroque Secretary

A fine north Italian Baroque 18th century olive wood and ebonized secretary bookcase with serpentine front to the secretary base, ebonized highlights and Baroque cornice. There is a secret drawer below the fitted fall front, and a most unusual pair of secret drawers to each side of the fall front. The locking mechanism consists of a rare metal rod concealed inside the secret compartment which reaches and locks all the bottom drawers, Lombard region, circa 1750.

Harry Lachman Oil on Canvas

Harry B. Lachman was born in La Salle, IL in 1886. Travelled to Paris in 1911 was exhibited in the Salon in Paris until he returned to the States in 1933. He was a highly respected post impressionist painter, and for a time lived in Moret-sur Loing, where this painting shows the L'Eglise de Notre Dame de Moret-sur-Loing. In France he was awarded the Legion d'Honneur.
He moved to Hollywood, where he became a set decorator for the movie industry. He later became a prolific director in movie industry and bought a large mansion in Beverly Hills.
This painting was exhibited and sold at the Dalzell Hatfield gallery at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles (est. 1925-1963).

A large fine quality Chippendale period mahogany tilt-top table on three shaped and carved with bellflower legs, ending in pad feet. The top is a 36-inch single plank of finely figured mahogany, the richly figured tilt-top with a shaped pierced baluster gallery resting on a birdcage movement allowing the table to swivel as well as to tilt. Circa 1750.

Each one of the 4 watercolors depicts famous sites in Italy. One depicts a cavern near Naples, one Loro Cuiffenna in Tuscany, one is the Roman Aqueduct and the fourth is Constantine"s Arch. All are late 18th century. Joseph Wright of Derby (1734-1797) painted an oil on canvas of just such a cavern, exhibited at Yale University British Art Museum, collection of Paul Mellon.
